Pinks and Greens actively supports the NJ Golf Foundation, so we wanted to share with you what it is all about.

The New Jersey Golf Foundation, Inc was founded in 2004 as the official charity of The New Jersey Section PGA.  The original mission of the NJ Golf Foundation was clear and simple, grow the game of golf in New Jersey, and teach life lessons through the game of golf.

The NJ Golf Foundation has been working diligently to give people, across the state, their introduction to golf by offering free lessons, instilling the values associated with this great game, and most importantly, proving that golf can be fun for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Many foundation activities have been targeted towards NJ’s youth.  Kids from all backgrounds are now given an opportunity to play golf and have access to both facilities and equipment, which they may not have had in the past.  Golf has also been introduced to school systems in NJ as part of physical education programs.  The NJ Golf Foundation has become a part of local YMCA groups, The First Tee and The Boys Girls Club.  Other programs such as The Special Olympics and SNAP, an athletic program for kids with special needs, also benefit from the New Jersey Golf Foundation.

Since the inception of The NJGF, there have been a number of ways for people to give back and show their support.  Golfers in New Jersey are given unique ways to have fun, play golf and be a part of the foundation’s fundraising endeavors.

Each year, professionals and amateurs alike are encouraged to take part in The NJGF Golf Marathon, which consists of playing 100 holes of golf in one day, for charity.  Each participant is asked to find individuals willing to pledge a donation to support the cause.  The marathons have proven to be a huge success.  The first 100 hole golf marathon was completed by Allan Bowman, PGA Professional at Cherry Valley Country Club.

Other events conducted by The NJ Golf Foundation are the annual NJ Golf Classic and The Peter A. Famiano Memorial Pro Am.  Proceeds from these events go to support the many activities conducted each year by the NJ Golf Foundation, including a $10,000 scholarship which is awarded to a worthy student golfer, in Peter Famiano’s honor.

In order to ensure golf has a future in New Jersey, The NJ Golf Foundation has been doing its part to grow this wonderful game.
