Why then are we neglecting our breasts?
According to a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, one in three marathon runners experience breast pain. Breast pain is not just for distance runners though, nor is it an issue that plagues only fuller chested ladies – small breasted women also reported experiencing the same discomfort. This pain comes from the figure eight motion your breast makes when exercising. A sports bra contains the motion, keeping the bounce minimized and damage to the Cooper Ligaments limited. Cooper Ligaments are the delicate ligaments that attach the breast to the torso. As women age, the ligaments lose their elasticity, causing the breast to sag. Unfortunately, exercising without the proper breast support accelerates this process and it is not reversible.
